SERVICES FOR YOUR RECOVERY
Physical Therapy can result in faster recovery from injury and surgery, maintaining good health and athletic performance. Lahaina Physical Therapy services include specialized rehabilitation programs designed specifically for you. Our goal is your personal recovery. We strive to give you long term success by restoring your full range of motion (extension and flexion).
SPORTS SPECIFIC INJURIES
An injury specific to the motions critical to your sport can be devastating to an athlete. These types of injuries can be caused by muscle weakness, bad alignment, fatigue or overuse. LPT can help athletes recover from an injury, prepare for a competition or provide personalized training for your sport. We are committed to providing excellent quality care for recreational, youth, high school, college, club and professional athletes. We strive to be trained in the latest techniques (in person coursework through NAIOMT, ASPIRE Institutes as well as Active Release Techniques) while utilizing the latest equipment such as the Ideal Knee, as well as the old standbys like BOSU, Foam Rollers (ask your PT for which roller would work best for your specific injury), Resistance Bands, Stability Balls and Over Head Pulleys.
Common sports injuries include sprains, strains, torn ligaments, fractures, dislocations and tendonitis.
SPINE CARE
Your ability to move is connected to the spine so any injury in this area can be truly frightening, and that fear may discourage you from taking an active approach to rehabilitation. A large amount of stress placed on your back while bending, stooping, lifting or sitting for long periods can cause muscle ache, shooting pain, or pain that radiates down the leg - all of which can limit your range of motion. Our therapists will customize a spine rehabilitation program specific to your symptoms and range of motion.
Knowing the main parts of your low back and how these parts work will help you to care for your back problem
ORTHOPEDIC PHYSICAL THERAPY
Orthopedic rehabilitation follows surgery such as operations on the hip, knee, shoulder, wrist, hand, neck, foot, ankle, and spine. To facilitate a pre-injury level of activity, we apply a plan that is specific to your needs to return you to your previous level of function and to prevent further injury. LPT therapists are educated about surgical procedures and are able to adapt and adjust their knowledge to treat each individual patient.
Post-Surgical physical therapy prescribed by your physician such as after knee surgery will restore flexibility and function, leading to a faster recovery.
POSTURE, BALANCE AND FALL PREVENTION
Lower extremity strength or inner ear problems can effect your balance leading to falls. To restore balance, we can help strengthen the lower extremities and improve stability on uneven surfaces. LPT can customize a program to help increase independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), increase independence with functional mobility, decrease fall risk, prevent future fall and increase safety.
According to the American Physical Therapy Association, 20% to 30% of people who fall suffer moderate to severe injuries.
ERGONOMICS
The foundation of a healthy body is proper alignment and body mechanics. Movements resulting in pain could stem from developed harmful habits such as poor ergonomics. We will evaluate your specific duties and develop a plan to adjust to your workstation. Specialties include office settings (computer, desk and chair positions) and industrial settings (proper lifting, reducing overhead reaching and assessment of repetitive movements). Our overall goal is to decrease the chance for re-injury.
Workplace conditions may be restructured or modified to reduce stressors that cause injury.
